January 2018 At Creative Therapy

What’s going on at Creative Therapy January 2018

Here is a quick update about the fun things that are happening at Creative Therapy!

Print to the Future:

Our popular printing group returns January 9.  It runs every Tuesday from 6pm- 7 pm and costs $30 per session.  This is an evening of handwriting and sensory exploration.   It is an Occupational Therapist led drop in group designed to help improve your child’s printing. The therapist will work with the children on improving fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and posture as these are all considered building blocks to better printing. Understanding one’s sensory processing challenges and developing strategies and tools to address these is also important to allow a child to sit still and focus.  A component of this group involves time in our gym, the use of swings, and active movement to help promote improved body and sensory awareness.

Please email info@creativeot.com for further details or visit creativeot.com to register for this group.  This group is drop-in by nature and we ask that you let us know the Monday of the week that you wish your child to attend for planning purposes.  We highly recommend that your child get an Occupational Therapy Assessment in order to maximize the benefits of any therapy or group activities.  An OT assessment will identify the challenges your child is experiencing along with root causes which helps tailor therapy activities for positive impact.  Any questions or concerns about the assessment can be discussed with our staff at Creative Therapy.

PD Day Camps in 2018: January 26, April 13, May 4, June 1:

Creative therapy offers PD day camps that coincide with the Waterloo Regional District School Board and Waterloo Catholic School Board calendars.
These camps provide a fun and safe experience designed and led by an Occupational Therapist.  Children work on a variety of fine and gross motor skills while developing appropriate social skills.  A high ratio of counselors to participants ensures that your child receives the attention necessary to ensure they have a fantastic experience. The cost is $90 for each full day or $45 for each half day.

Good Vibes: January 15-March 12, 2018

Creative Therapy and Queen Street Music have joined forces and created The Good Vibes Group. This group is an innovative new program designed to promote listening skills, enhance your child’s co-ordination, and allow your child to develop an awareness of their sensory needs, all in a fun environment that allows your child to work on their social skills and help build their confidence. Music Therapy combined with Occupational Therapy provides an environment for your child to learn new music skills combined with Occupational Therapy knowledge of how the body works and the sensory processing system is affected. The program will be designed with the specific needs of your child.
This program will run for 8 sessions (no session on February 19, 2018 due to Family Day holiday) from 6:15-7:30pm and costs $220 for the 8 sessions.
